- You find you're more confused than normal. You might be forgetting simple things like regular appointments with friends, or forgetting to eat regularly. You might find it hard to articulate what you're trying to say and get frustrated at how messed up your thinking seems to be inside your head.
- You realise that you've been feeling particularly low, sad or irritable. It's been longer than a few weeks and you can't really pinpoint what the problem is, or you just can't see a way forward.
- One day you're up and flying and the next day you're screaming toward the earth at a rate of knots! Being able to control this roller coaster is getting harder all the time and you just want to get off the ride. Now!
- You're worried. About everything. And anything. In fact, you feel afraid, anxious, with knots in your stomach the size of golf balls and you can't seem to gain a sure footing while the storm seems to increase around you.
- You can't seem to get control of how angry you feel. Or how scared, sad or disillusioned. It just hangs on you like a coat and drags you down.
- You don't want to be around other people. Not today. Not tomorrow. You don't know why, but the thought of company makes your skin crawl and you just can't bear it.
- You forget to eat or your sleep patterns change significantly. You may go days before you realise that you've not had a proper meal or slept more than a few hours each night (or conversely, you can't seem to stop eating and/or sleeping).
- You have been thinking pretty dark stuff lately, considering how to hurt yourself and maybe even working on a plan to make it permanent.
- You seem to be experiencing hallucinations or delusions, are plagued with a number of unexplainable physical illnesses, or becoming reliant on using substances to relieve your pain.
