Mindfulness is a very popular discussion point in Western psychology at the moment, being considered a powerful therapeutic intervention assisting clients with everything from work stress to depression. It has also been found to be an effective tool for increasing emotional intelligence.

When you practice mindfulness you are paying attention to each event experienced in the present moment. You use your body and mind, taking a non-reactive and accepting attitude. As you learn to experience events in the present moment, you change your relationship with past hurtful events. You learn skills to deal with your painful thoughts and feelings effectively in such a way that they have less impact over you.
